C103 Charity Toss for Elton John Tickets

Moncton’s Classic Rock C103 has come up with an interesting way to give away Elton John tickets and help support the Children’s Wish Foundation at the same time.

 

On Friday July 18 beginning at 8am the Moncton Coliseum parking lot will be the site of our Charity Toss for Elton John Tickets.  For a two dollar donation to the Children’s Wish Foundation, the public will be asked to toss an item and try to get it in the target.  Everyone who participates will receive a ballot to win Elton John concert tickets.  Those who do especially well in the contest will receive increased chances to win tickets.  All money collected will be donated to the Children’s Wish Foundation, Moncton Sub-Chapter.

Thomas Williams House - Annual Strawberry Tea Social

MONCTON—The staff of the Thomas Williams House would like to announce the annual Strawberry Tea Social that will take place on July 20 at the Thomas Williams House. Join us for an afternoon of music, mounds of scrumptious strawberry shortcake, and great door prizes from businesses in the area, all in the social atmosphere of afternoon tea in the Victorian age. Music will be provided by Dorothy Brzeziki, harpist.

Advance tickets are on sale at the Thomas Williams House. The cost is $9 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under. Note that seats are reserved and follow an hourly rotation: tickets are available for 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3:30 p.m.

The Thomas Williams House is located at 103 Park Street in Moncton, at the corner of Park and Highfield streets. The House is open Monday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is by donation.

The Thomas Williams House Victorian Tearoom will be closed for the day on July 20^th due to the event and will re-open for business July 21 at 10:30 a.m.

The Moncton Summer Cultural Series continues this week!

Artists at the Market, Percussion Series and Victoria Park Concerts

 

Artists at the Market

This Saturday, July 12, Moncton’s Artists at the Market series will feature two outstanding performances. At 11 a.m., 1-2-Trio will take the stage, and from noon until 1 p.m. Fiddling Friends will provide more musical entertainment.

 

“1-2-Trio” is quite a unique ensemble with members: Chantal Gagné on trumpet, Bill Cosman on clarinet and Guy Langis on bassoon, joined also by Bill and Chantal’s daughter Mélanie Cosman on trumpet. Join us as 1-2-Trio presents their repertoire of jazz and classical arrangements, courtesy of Guy Langis.

 

Fiddling Friends is a group of 13 New Brunswick musicians who have been together for ten years. Despite the name, the Fiddling Friends are not only fiddlers, but also include a vocalist, a mandolin player and several guitar accompanists. A little something for everyone; all of their shows feature a variety of entertaining “down-home” style music and Celtic tunes, that are sure to get your feet tapping.

 

The Marché Moncton Market is located in the heart of downtown Moncton on Westmorland Street.

 

Percussion Series

On Saturday, July 12 from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bore Park amphitheatre, everyone is invited to take part in an open Percussion Jam, overlooking the Petitcodiac River. Bring your own instrument to jam and remember that all types of percussion instruments are welcome!

 

The Bore Park amphitheatre is located next to the Treitz Haus and the Rodd Park House Inn, on Main Street.

 

Victoria Park Concerts

On Tuesday, July 15 at 7 p.m., the Codiac RCMP Pipes and Drums band will take the stage at the outdoor amphitheatre in Victoria Park.

 

This group of retired and auxiliary RCMP members and citizen volunteers that was formed eleven years ago as the Codiac RCMP Pipes and Drums band is sure to enthral with their unique sound. As one of seven pipe bands in Canada, this band customarily participates in parades helping the RCMP by serving as good will ambassadors. Head over to Victoria Park on Tuesday night and support the RCMP and this great band!

 

Victoria Park is located within walking distance of downtown Moncton between Cameron Street and Weldon Street. If it rains, no need to worry, the concert is automatically rescheduled for the following evening at 7 p.m. In the event that it rains on the re-scheduled Wednesday evening, the concert will be cancelled.

Artistes au Marché

Ce samedi 12 juillet, la série de mini-concerts Artistes au Marché présentera deux prestations remarquables. À 11 h, 1-2-Trio montera sur scène, puis les Fiddling Friends exécuteront plusieurs numéros de midi à 13 h.

 

« 1-2-Trio est un ensemble assez unique formé de Chantal Gagné à la trompette, de Bill Cosman à la clarinette et de Guy Langis au basson auquel se joindront également Bill et la fille de Chantal, Mélanie Cosman à la trompette. Joignez-vous à nous alors que 1-2-Trio présente son répertoire d’arrangements de jazz et de musique classique, création de Guy Langis.

 

Fiddling Friends est un groupe de 13 musiciens néo-brunswickois qui jouent ensemble depuis dix ans. Malgré son nom, le groupe Fiddling Friends ne se compose pas uniquement de violoneux mais comprend également un chanteur, un joueur de mandoline et plusieurs guitaristes accompagnateurs. Un peu de tout pour chacun; tous ses spectacles comprennent une variété de musique divertissante typique d’ici et des airs celtiques qui vous feront certainement taper du pied.

 

Le Marché Moncton Market est situé dans le cœur du centre-ville de Moncton, rue Westmorland.

 

Série de percussion

Tout le monde est invité à prendre part à un Jam de percussion improvisé le samedi 12 juillet, de 13 h 30 à 15 h, à l’amphithéâtre du parc du Mascaret, qui surplombe la rivière Petitcodiac. Apportez votre propre instrument pour participer. Tous les types d’instrument de percussion sont les bienvenus!

 

L’amphithéâtre du parc du Mascaret est situé à côté de la maison Treitz et de l’hôtel Rodd Park House Inn, rue Main.

 

Concerts au parc Victoria

Le mardi 15 juillet à 19 h, le Corps de cornemuses et de tambours de la GRC de Codiac occupera la scène de l’amphithéâtre extérieur du parc Victoria.

 

Ce groupe de membres retraités et auxiliaires de la GRC ainsi que de résidents bénévoles qui a été formé il y a onze ans sous le nom de Corps de cornemuses et de tambours de la GRC de Codiac saura certainement vous captiver grâce à sa sonorité unique. À titre de l’un des sept corps de cornemuses du Canada, ce corps a l’habitude de participer à des parades et d’aider la GRC dans son rôle d’ambassadeurs de bonne volonté. Mardi soir, allez au parc Victoria pour appuyer la GRC et son formidable corps de cornemuses et de tambours!

 

Le parc Victoria est situé à une distance de marche du centre-ville de Moncton entre les rues Cameron et Weldon. Inutile de s’inquiéter s’il pleut : le concert est inévitablement reporté au soir suivant, à 19 h. S’il pleut le mercredi auquel le concert a été reporté, le concert sera annulé.

Musicians of all styles wanted for this years 2008 Green Festival in aid of Children’s and Wildlife Charity.

There will be three days of great music, rock, blues, folk, pop, you name it. It is a new event for the area but it will become established as THE event of the musical calendar. Get in this year before the rush and make a name for yourself.

This year it will be basic but any band/musician performing this year will be guaranteed a slot next year.

George LeBlanc Accordion Festival Event Passes Now On Sale

MONCTON – All-access passes for the George LeBlanc Accordion Festival are now on sale for $10 from the Revenue Office at Moncton City Hall, 655 Main Street. The pass provides free access to all three evening performances, and can be purchased during regular office hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).

The Festival, which runs from July 17 – 20 at City Hall Plaza, the Moncton Market, and the Bore Park, will feature close to 90 professional accordion players ranging in age from 11 to 84 years old from various parts of Canada.

Daytime events: Free
Evening events: $5 each
Festival all-access pass: $10

Laissez-passer du Festival de l’accordéon George LeBlanc en vente

MONCTON - Tous les laissez-passer pour assister au Festival de l’accordéon George LeBlanc sont maintenant en vente au coût de 10 $ au Bureau du revenu situé à l’hôtel de ville de Moncton, 655, rue Main. Le laissez-passer donne accès aux trois spectacles de soirée. On peut acheter les laissez-passer durant les heures normales de bureau (du lundi au vendredi, de 8 h 30 à 16 h 30).

Le Festival, qui se déroule du 17 au 20 juillet à la Place de l’hôtel de ville, au Marché Moncton Market et au parc du Mascaret, mettra en vedette près de 90 accordéonistes professionnels âgés de 11 à 84 ans et provenant de diverses parties du Canada.
